Forage Yield and Quality of Maize Varity  [PDF]

Abstract: This study was conducted in gedarif research station farm for two seasons in 2011 and 2012. The objective was to find the relationship among genotypes yield from dry matter and rain fall amount and distribution. The results showed significant differences for the five types of maize at two parameters. This was indicated by number of leaves and dry weight. The results showed highly significant differences between the two species and the rest of the other on the both season 2011 and 2012. The study concluded that, maize varity and genotype can be used as indicators for plant yield and biomass as proved in the crop of the study. The study recommended that varity Hudiba I and Hudiba 2 can be used as practical mean to assess utilization level as expressed by growth performance indicators including dry matter and biomass from maize varity forage crop.

Abstract: This study was conducted in gedarif research station farm for two seasons in 2013 and 2014. The objective was to determine optimum seed rate and time of harvesting mungbean for green forage and hay under rain fed conditions. The results showed different significant in three stage of cutting and three seed rate at different parameter as indicated by plant height, plant number, branch number, leave number and dry weight. The result showed highly significant between vegetative and boding stage. In the same season (2013) and (2014), also highly significant between the boding stage in seed rate tow and all stage of seed rate for the both season (2013) and (2014). The study concluded that, cutting stage can be used as indicators for plant yield and biomass as proved in the crop of the study. The study recommended that boding cutting stage can be used as practical mean to assess utilization level as expressed by growth performance indicators including dry matter and biomass from guar forage crop.

Abstract: A computer generated quadratic and higher order apertures are constructed and the corresponding numerical speckle images are obtained. Secondly, the numerical images of the autocorrelation intensity of the randomly distributed object modulated by the apertures and the corresponding profiles are obtained. Finally, the point spread function (PSF) is computed for the described modulated apertures in order to improve the resolution.

Abstract: In this paper an electron microscopic image of diameter 80 – 120 nm and of dimensions 180×220 pixels is used as a test object to fabricate Fresnel zone plate hologram. The author proposes a different set of pupils: one pupil still being a delta function and the other being a function of < r > = sqrt(x2+y2). The obtained reconstructed images in case of scanning holography are investigated.
Recognition of Direction of New Apertures from the Elongated Speckle Images: Simulation  [PDF]

In this paper, we present an elongated speckle images produced from diffusers using sharp elliptical apertures. The orientation of the elliptic aperture is recognized from the direction of the elongation in the speckle images. The aperture tilting out of the plane is investigated. Three models of elliptical apertures are considered and the corresponding speckle images are obtained. The 1st model is composed of two orthogonal ellipses or plus symbol pupil; the 2nd has four symmetric ellipses with an angle of 45° between each of them or in the form of a snow flake pupil and the 3rd model looks like an airplane. Also, the autocorrelation profiles of the speckle images corresponding to the diffused airplane are obtained from which the average speckle size is computed. Finally, the reconstructed images of the described elliptical models and its autocorrelation images, making use of Mat lab code, are obtained.

Abstract: A new method of image processing of corona virus based on two and multiple beam interference is suggested. The method is based on measuring the fringe shift with respect to the background interference pattern. The interested application of the corona virus image in confocal microscopy is getting depth information since it has the property of optical sectioning. An accurate measurement of the fringe shift is obtained using multiple beam interference since contrast is higher than that for two beam interference. The refractive index of the corona virus image is deduced from the fringe shift. A MATLAB code is used for the processing of all images.
Holographic Imaging of Argon Plasma Images  [PDF]

A coding and decoding process of argon plasma images using digital holography is proposed. The digital Fourier holography is applied to two images of matrix dimensions 512 × 512 pixels. The decoded images are improved using wiener filtering techniques. We have constructed three basic color images of the original image which is useful to extract the thermal distribution of the plasma image. Also, the profiles of the reconstructed images are checked showing better smooth profiles using wiener filter. The Mat-lab code is applied in the operation of image processing using Fourier techniques.

Perched groundwater at the northwestern coast of Egypt: a case study of the Fuka Basin

Abstract: Perched groundwater resources on the northwestern coast of Egypt have thus far been little studied. However, if replenished by rainwater, they can provide a considerable amount of renewable water, i.e., for sustainable irrigation. These resources are limited, show different salinity contents and are endangered by overuse, pollution and by the sea level rising in the context of global warming. This paper presents new climatic data, geomorphologic, geologic, geochemical and hydrological researches in combination with remote sensing and GIS applications from Fuka Basin. Fuka constitutes a special synclinal basin where the interbedded limestone and clays have been folded into gentle synclinal structures. Fractured Middle Miocene limestone represents the bearing formation for the perched groundwater. According to the hydrogeochemical analysis and the PHREEQC model, the aquifer is recharged during the winter season by rainwater from the surrounding tableland and the chemical evolution of the perched water is attributed to water–rock interaction and mixing of fresh water with sea water. The salinity of the perched water ranges from 2,126 to 2,644 mg/L whereas for the deep groundwater it reaches 9,800 mg/L. The study explores origin and potential of the perched groundwater of Fuka Basin and gives recommendations for a future sustainable use and further investigations.
Interpretation of Pharmaceutical Pictograms by Pharmacy and Non-Pharmacy University Students  [PDF]

Background: The present study was undertaken to evaluate the correct interpretation by university students of internationally available pictograms and to assess the ability of the pictograms to convey the intended messages. Aim: To compare the ability of pharmacy and non-pharmacy students to comprehend pharmaceutical pictograms. Method: Twenty eight internationally available (United States Pharmacopoeial Convention Inc. USP) pictograms were used throughout this study, which was conducted with 300 pharmacy and non-pharmacy students. Questionnaires included relevant questions, and participants were instructed to study the pictograms and write their interpretations. The American National Standards Institute requirement of 85% correctness criterion was used for correct interpretation. Differences between responses of the two groups were calculated using SPSS version 18 and p < 0.05 was considered significant. Results: The majority of pharmacy (98%) and non-pharmacy (86%) students stated that pictograms should be included in medicine leaflet and they were helpful for all patients. Out of the 28 pictograms 7 (25%) and 2 (7.1%) of them achieved the ANSI requirement of 85% correctness criterion by pharmacy and non-pharmacy students respectively. Conclusion: Interventions to increase public awareness of the usefulness of pharmaceutical pictograms are needed.


Apply Unit Commitment Method in Power Station to Minimize the Fuel Cost  [PDF]

The goal of this paper study is to schedule the power generation units to minimize fuel consumption cost based on a model that solves unit commitment problems. This can be done by utilizing forward dynamic programming method to determine the most economic scheduling of generating units. The model is applied to power station, which consists of four generating units. The obtained results show that the applications of forward dynamic programming method offer substantial reduction in fuel consumption cost. The fuel consumption cost has been reduced from $ 116,326 to $ 102,181 within a 24-hour period. This means saving about 12.16% of fuel consumption cost. The study emphasizes the importance of applying modeling schedule programs to the operation of power generation units. Consequently, the less consumption of fuel is, the less losses of power and pollution will be.
